teach me Jesus to smile from the inside out
be filled with laughter, never to pout
teach me how to care for me
how to sing again and be really free

teach me L-rd not to give in
to his demands to be in sin
teach me how to love myself
to stop putting my needs on the shelf

teach me L-rd once again
teach me to reach, and just let you in
I do not long for days like this
I want Your Holy forgiveness

I know deep in my heart with me You stay
You promised You'd not go away
teach me to smile again is my cry
don't let the spirit inside me die

Help me Jesus when I am weak
it is You only I want to seek
right now these words speak from my heart
it aches so much, feels bad from the start

teach me Jesus to be just like YOU
being grateful instead of blue
teach me to smile from the inside out
never to forget what You are about.
